John-Paul O'Neil Hire Me

B.Sc. Chemistry & Creative Technical Front End Developer

Crafty Professional

I'm currently looking for an awesome job. The kind of job you brag to your friends about. A job where your helping people to do awesome. Do you have a position like this to fill?

Previously I did wet chemistry R&D for Unipixel, helping them develop touch screen sensors for cell phones, laptops, and computer monitors that were based on extremely fine deposited copper lines.

I'm a very creative and clever individual. I'm constantly working on personal do-it-yourself projects in fields that interest me. Things such as metal working, welding, wood working, ceramics, resin composite materials, electronics, computers, sewing, drawing, painting, brewing, etc... I have done way too many projects to even think about listing some out here.

I'm currently learning the standard Front End Dev base skill set of HTML5, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, and getting experience with common frameworks like Bootstrap. However my curiousity will have me delve into more full stack subjects like Node.js, SQL databases, etc... I have learned a bit of Python on the side too.

    3/2013 - 4/2015

Lab Technician / Chemist, Unipixel Displays, Inc

    NASDAQ: UNXL

  • Worked on research & development of roll-to-roll electrolessly plated capacitive touch screen sensors using an extremely fine copper-based mesh. Cheaper than industry standard Indium-Doped Tin Oxide based touch screens, flexible, and low resistance allowing large touch screens up to 23 inches on the hardware we had available
  • Research on the effects of Dissolved Oxygen on electroless copper plating of catalytic fine lines or features, and methods to control it - for extremely fine wires, patent pending
  • Switched an industrial roll-to-roll electroless copper plating line from one chemistry which was not performing to another chemistry, including finding the new dosing characteristics, and passing on necessary modifications for increasing plating quality and control
  • Assisted with the validation and running of a smaller scale "lab line" roll-to-roll electroless plating system including frequent manual titration and adjusting of the chemistry, features of this system are patent pending
  • Assisted manufacturing partner at the time, Kodak, with understanding and realizing changes to multiple full size industrial roll-to-roll plating lines to allow them to plate rolls at higher throughput and identify and rectify issues to reduced defect counts
  • Almost daily print verification though beaker scale hand plating of sensors followed by tests to verify electrical continuity, resistance, adhesion, visual uniformity, etc... And identifying, reporting, and studying defects when found to help reduce them in the future
  • Trained 6+ people on beaker scale electroless copper plating including not-obvious improvements and ideal conditions necessary to scale up. Also trained them on finding defects with electrical testing
  • Helped design a variety of plating tanks, washing tanks, modifications to lines, ideal plating line designs, etc...

    3/2012 - 8/2012

Laboratory Technician / Assistant, Kelly Scientific Resources

  • Emergent Technologies Inc., Enavail, LLC. Contract pharmaceutical formulation R&D laboratory
  • Assisted in formulation research, pill formulation dissolution rate trials, etc...
  • Assisted in maintaining laboratory cleanliness, washing labware, taking stock of supplies, etc...

    2007 - Ocassion

Pyrotechnics Display Assistant / Loader, Multiple

  • Multiple individual dates over many years with multiple companies and groups. Display pyrotechnics has been a fun and interesting way to dazzle crouds with the ephemeral beauty of fireworks.
  • Western Enterprises, Pyrotechnico, volunteered for Pyrotechnic Artists of Texas Club
  • Labor Day 2007, New Years Eve 2007, Independence Day 2008 and 2009, etc...
  • Assist in set up, safe loading, electric match wiring, firing, take down, and clean up of professional firework displays

    2007 - 2009

Customer Service and Delivery Driver, Austin's Pizza

  • I worked here three separate summers
  • Primary responsibility was taking deliveries, followed by tending the oven, ringing up walk-in customer pickups and orders, and cleaning
